AxioTAP Class A6 Series - AxioMIX System
The AxioMIX™ System is an advanced modular network access solution for enterprise-class installations. The system represents a rugged 19" rack-mount chassis enclosing an aggregation backplane and a range of hot-swap modules supporting any mainstream LAN technologies and network tools.
The AxioMIX chassis enables AxioTAP deployments with high port density in a 1U rack space; it comes with dual power supplies and provides four expansion slots receiving any combination of AxioMIX TAP modules - called AxioM. The chassis has a serial high-speed backplane allowing the system to aggregate traffic from up to four TAP modules enabling true many-to-many configuration of network segments to network tools.
The flexible range of plug-and-play modules enable simple and secure access into the corporate LAN for network analysis, sniffing or probing, email/spam filtering, forensic monitoring, intrusion detection (IDS), intrusion prevention (IPS), VoIP analysis/monitoring and recording and any other network tools that need access to live traffic.There are two types of chassis to choose from :
- AxioMIX A6-AC Chassis provides four (4) module-bays supporting up to four (4) AxioM AxioTAP modules. The modules are hot-swappable and connect to a serial traffic aggregation backplane. The 1U chassis comes with two (2) integrated redundant power supplies 90-240V AC, 50-60Hz .
- AxioMIX A6-DC Chassis provides four (4) module-bays supporting up to four (4) AxioM AxioTAP modules. The modules are hot-swappable and connect to a serial traffic aggregation backplane. The 1U chassis comes with two (2) integrated redundant power supplies 48V DC .
The AxioM modules
The AxioMIX System can combine a variety of AxioTAP modules available in two families:
- the ALine AxioM Modules are ideal for undetected, fail-safe monitoring of copper or fiber, full duplex, Fast and Gigabit (100/1000Mbps) Ethernet Network data transmission traffic.
- the XLine AxioM Modules are specifically designed for in-line network tools to continuously monitor single critical full duplex Fast and Gigabit Ethernet Network data transmission traffic segments.
The AxioM modules are configurable, interchangeable, and hot-swappable four port cards that are available in a variety of port combinations, including:
- Copper - copper
- Multi-mode Fiber - Copper
- Single-mode Fiber - Copper

In the event of a module or a chassis failure, the modules provide Fail-Close mechanisms which automatically maintain the live network link.
The AxioMIX chassis contains a high-speed aggregating backplane, which enables traffic from up to four (4) network links or up to eight (8) SPAN ports to be copied to up to eight (8) monitoring ports connected to different network tools. Therefore the AxioMIX System provides support for up to eight (8) SPAN ports which traffic can be aggregated on the backplane and sent to up to eight (8) network tools connected on any of the AxioMIX monitoring ports. Traffic can also be regenerated from one SPAN port in to several monitoring ports.
